Armchair Activists mail from Terry‏

Hi

The press are a little quiet at the moment, but this article has appeared in the Yorkshire Post

The basic premise is that 1. the Union is a good thing and 2. we’d better give more powers to Scotland in order to save it. Why has no one ever thought of doing that before? OH WAIT!, They have! That’s how we got into this bloody mess in the first place!

Please write to the editor here. You need to fill in the forma and make it clear in the subject that it is intended for publication. Good luck!

Sir

If your correspondent Mark Stuart (If we want to preserve the Union, let the Scots manage their own taxation, 2nd Sept) really wants to save the Union, he should campaign for equal treatment for all Britons, not preferential treatment for an already privileged group.

Before we bend over backwards even further for Scotland, we need to give those of us living in England the same constitutional and fiscal status. Scotland already has the ability to tax her people more for greater welfare provisions, but they don’t need to because they can just take the money (via the Barnett Formula) from the English.

If England is not granted an English Parliament and the Barnett Formula ended, the American revolutionary cry (inverted by Stuart in the article) could be amended further to “no representation (for the English), just lots of taxation”.

Yours etc
